Train history

The first time the train No. 9/10 with the route Kuibyshev (the former name of Samara) – Moscow – Kuibyshev traveled in 1964. At that time, the head of the brigade was Nikolai Georgievich Fokin, a veteran of war and labor. He received the title of honorary railway worker.

The following year, he was transferred to the class of branded trains. He was given the current name – «Zhiguli». The inspiration for him was the natural landmark of the Samara Region - the famous mountain range on the Volga coast. In 2004, on the Day of the Railway Worker, the style of the Lada changed, which pleased the residents and guests of Samara. The main changes were reflected outside. The movement of the train was suspended only 1 time in the entire history of its existence. It happened on April 15 (in Samara)/16 (in Moscow), 2020. The termination of the activity was associated with the spread of coronavirus infection. The flow of passengers decreased, being in the cars was not completely safe in the current situation. People who were supposed to go on the following dates were offered another way to get to their destination or return the full cost of the purchased tickets. Traffic resumed only on July 17 (in Samara)/18 (in Moscow), 2020.

Route

Passenger train «Zhiguli» is moving on the Samara – Moscow – Samara flight. He passes Samara, Ulyanovsk, Penza, Ryazan, Moscow regions, as well as the Republic of Mordovia. The largest cities on the way of the train are Ryazan and Syzran. The train makes 5 stops. The longest one is at the Ruzaevka station, it lasts 15 minutes.

The train departs from Samara station in the city of Samara. Arrives at the Kazansky railway station in Moscow.

From Samara, the Zhiguli train usually departs at about 18:50, and reaches Moscow at 7:53. From Moscow, it departs at 20:08, and ends up in Samara at 9:11. Guides will help to make the places with bed linen. Tickets cost more than 7000 rubles.
• Luxury class. TVs with DVD players were added to these cars. The seats are equipped with air conditioning, wireless Internet access, a separate bathroom, a washbasin and a shower cabin. The guides have DVDs, among which you can choose a movie. Guests are given new bed linen and bathrobes. Tickets to this class are the most expensive. Their cost is more than 8000 rubles.
