"Russian Railways" are halving flights to Tallinn. The main reason is that due to the low international passenger traffic, this direction is considered unprofitable. The demand for the train "Tallinn" St. Petersburg - Moscow" exists only for the reason that it includes cars running in domestic communication between the two capitals. At the same time, the Estonian Railways (Eesti Raudtee) do not consider this decision appropriate and intend to continue negotiations so that international traffic remains daily. In their opinion, the number of passengers, on the contrary, is increasing every year. Therefore, it is difficult to assess on whose side the truth is. It is not known how this will affect the movement of passengers between countries.
At the moment, it has been decided to reduce the number of flights in this direction from February 8, 2020. Trains from the Russian capital will depart on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. During periods of high demand, a daily departure is planned. The exception will be the period from April 29 to May 11, from May 29 to August 31 and from November 3 to November 4. The route will remain unchanged, the entire journey time is 15 hours and 28 minutes.
Trains will run daily until February 8, 2020. Also, during the New Year holidays, additional trains will be released, following the same route on the same conditions. There is an increased demand during this period. 8 additional trains is a record for all the years of the route's existence.
Departure to the Estonian capital will be at 18:45 from 27 to 30 December and from 2 to 7 January 2020. Arrival time is at 11:16 the next day. In the opposite direction, trains will depart at 23:15 from Tallinn on December 29 and from January 3 to January 8, 2020, arrival time in Moscow at 15:20 the next day.
Recall that from December 8, 2019, a new train schedule came into force, which you can find on the official website of the service provider. Or when booking tickets for the route you need.
