Cheboksary Railway Station is the pride of the Republic of Chuvashia

From January 1, 1940, the Kanash-Cheboksary railway line was put into operation. It greatly contributed to the elimination of off-road in Chuvashia, gave impetus to the development of the region's industry. Due to the high demand, the station began to develop rapidly. Cheboksary-2 transport park, cargo yard, shunting park, sorting slide appeared. And at the end of 1940, the railway station was opened for passengers. Then the first train from Moscow to Cheboksary was launched. The route is still popular today, now a double-decker branded train "Chuvashia" runs along it. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, but let's focus in more detail on the history of the station and the features of its design.

Cheboksary Railway Station received its first passengers on November 30, 1940. Until 2003, the building looked like this. It was a one-story building located on the outskirts of the city.

After the building underwent reconstruction. It has become more beautiful and modern. The government of Chuvashia actively participated in the reconstruction, so it is not surprising that the renovated station has become the hallmark of the Republic. The opening of the building was a bright holiday for local residents. A big concert was organized, to which even the government of the Russian Federation was invited. Since then, it has been customary to celebrate all the anniversaries of the station no less magnificently.

Not only the station building was reconstructed. Over the years, the architectural appearance of the city has also changed. Now it is practically the center of Cheboksary, not the outskirts. The surrounding area is equipped, the infrastructure is developed.

The modern Cheboksary railway station is an important transport hub, albeit a dead end. Inside there is a spacious ticket hall, 6 windows for ticket sales and an information desk. Passengers can comfortably stay in the waiting room, use the luggage storage, visit the buffet. On the second floor there are 5 rooms for superior comfort. There is a medical center on the ground floor, it accepts passengers, drivers and machinists, as well as their assistants, undergo a pre-trip inspection here.

Passengers should be aware that ticket offices do not work around the clock. They are open from 8:00 to 21:40.

The station also has cultural value. Exhibitions of works of fine art are often held on the third floor of the building. Concerts of classical and modern musical groups are often organized here under the dome.

Over time, a specialized theoretical training room for station employees appeared. Here, employees of the railway industry can improve their professional knowledge. The office has all the necessary equipment for training. In 2009, a TV, samples of workwear, educational posters on traffic safety and labor protection appeared in it. Now a branch of the training center of the Kazan branch of the Gorky Railway has been created here.

Since 2009, there has been a training ground with a switchboard, mast and dwarf traffic lights, signal way signs, automatic coupling. There is even a rolling stock with certain malfunctions.

The station provides facilities for people with limited mobility. There are special parking spaces, a ramp is installed at the entrance. The exit to the platforms has no vertical obstacles.

Cheboksary station did not stop working even in times of crisis. In 2008, railway workers were not left without work. They carried out the reconstruction of the track facilities of Cheboksary-2 Park. The operation of the station has been optimized. This made it possible to save jobs.

The station in Cheboksary is developing and thriving. Now you can leave here by train not only to Moscow. There are flights to St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kanash, Lazarevskoye, Adler.
